Cyber Ireland will be present at Beyond IoT 2019

Cyber Ireland are delighted to announce their attendance at the 2019 Beyond IoT conference in Páirc Uí Chaoimh.

The event offers a unique opportunity for multi-nationals, SMEs, start-ups, entrepreneurs and academics to hear what international, battle-tested entrepreneurs, technologists, investors and dedicated researchers expect from the next wave of technology innovation and investment.

Cyber Ireland will be exhibiting at Beyond IoT 2, giving attendees the opportunity to learn more about the initiative, the benefits of the cluster and value to firms. 

Cyber security is a critical component of the Internet of Things and to address this, Jon Soberg of MS & AD Ventures, will be speaking on Security – Opportunity or Threat to IoT.

Jon Soberg is Managing Partner at MS&AD Ventures, where he and his team invest in early stage investments in companies with great teams who are changing the world. Focus areas include: InsurTech, AI, IOT, Big Data and Cyber Security. Jon has been an early stage venture investor for nearly a decade and has made over 75 investments across 5 continents

This will be followed by a panel session of industry and academic experts, comprising of:

  • Dr. Greg Bollella –  Dr Greg Bollella (Internet-of-Things CTO, VMware, Inc.) has been interested in algorithms and software architectures that support the deterministic execution of logic within general-purpose operating systems and virtual machines since 1992. At VMware he is investigating infrastructure management for the Internet-of-Things.  He holds a Ph.D. in computer science from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. 
  • Dr. Donna O’ Shea – Dr Donna O’Shea is a lecturer in Computer Science at Cork Institute of Technology. As part of Donna’s role as lecturer she is also programme director for the fully online programmes, MSc in Cloud Computing, MSc Artificial Intelligence, MSc Software Architecture & Design and MSc in Information Design & Development and also teaches a number of online modules across a range of academic programmes. Over the past year Donna has also worked with the IDA in establishing Cyber Ireland, the goal of which is to ensure that Ireland is well positioned both to service the already significant activities in the area of cybersecurity research and innovation and to build excellence and talent that will enable further growth in this expanding field.
